Resilience in Business: Why the Pledge 1% Community is Leading the Way

Diz Petit

Founder, CEO

At LiquiDonate, we’ve taken the pledge—committing 1% of our time, product, and equity to benefit nonprofits. We see it not as an obligation, but as an opportunity: to use our resources for good, to embed impact into our company’s DNA, and to build long-term resilience through generosity.

Last week I had the honor of joining fellow entrepreneurs, impact leaders, and changemakers at the Pledge 1% Builders event at Pinterest HQ. It was a powerful gathering that reinforced a core truth about purpose-driven business: resilience isn’t just about surviving—it’s about building something that lasts, something that gives back, and something that strengthens the communities around us.

What is Pledge 1%?

For those unfamiliar, Pledge 1% is a global movement that empowers founders, companies, and employees to commit 1% of their time, product, profit, or equity to social impact. What started as an idea—championed by companies like Salesforce, Atlassian, and Rally—has grown into a worldwide community of over 18,000 businesses in 100+ countries. These companies recognize that philanthropy and impact shouldn’t be an afterthought but an integral part of business strategy.

At LiquiDonate, we’ve taken the pledge—committing 1% of our time, product, and equity to benefit nonprofits. We see it not as an obligation, but as an opportunity: to use our resources for good, to embed impact into our company’s DNA, and to build long-term resilience through generosity.

The Power of Resilience in the Pledge 1% Community

One of the most striking themes from the event was the role of resilience in mission-driven companies. In today’s world, businesses are navigating constant change—economic shifts, evolving policies, and global challenges. The companies that thrive are the ones that stay grounded in their values, invest in their communities, and create a culture of giving.

That’s what makes the Pledge 1% Builders so special. The builders are a diverse group of founders, leaders, and operators who are not just talking about impact but actively embedding it into their business models. They are proving that giving back isn’t just good ethics—it’s good business.

This community includes some of the most innovative and forward-thinking leaders from tech startups to established enterprises. They are people who believe that resilience doesn’t mean going it alone—it means leveraging collective strength, collaborating for good, and building businesses that stand the test of time by investing in something bigger than themselves.

Why More Companies Should Take the Pledge

If you’re a founder, an executive, or even an employee looking to make a difference, now is the time to join the movement. Taking the pledge isn’t about making a one-time donation or launching a corporate responsibility program—it’s about embedding a culture of generosity and resilience into your company’s foundation.

This year's event was a testament to how powerful this mindset shift can be. When we commit to impact, we attract better talent, build stronger partnerships, and create businesses that people want to support.

At LiquiDonate, we’re proud to stand with Pledge 1% and the incredible community of builders leading the way. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to explore how your company can make giving a fundamental part of its DNA. Let’s build something that lasts—together.
